Senior R&D Manager – Playout Servers As a Senior Manager in the Playout Server organization, you will lead the design, development and maintenance activities for the existing and future Harmonic media server and cloud playout product portfolio, lead and develop a team of highly motivated professionals, including software development managers and have opportunity to further enhance your technical, business and leadership skills.  This position is located in Harmonic’s design center in Beaverton, OR, and will report to the VP of R&D.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage multiple research and development projects. Define goals, plan staffing, create project plans and schedules, track and communicate status, manage project teams, manage liaisons with other R&D groups, Marketing, and customers.Analyze, improve, and execute improved processes for your group, e.g. in the areas of documentation, development, testing, and communication.Work with Harmonic's Business Development, R&D, and Marketing teams to choose new avenues for technology and product development and to refine marketing requirements into R&D objectives. Prepare documents, create consensus, and make presentations to start new projects within Harmonic's Product Life Cycle process.Manage an existing group of successful, motivated R&D engineers. Set and track personnel goals, conduct performance reviews, provide mentoring and feedback.Manage teams in multiple geographies REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated initiative in creation and execution of new projectsDemonstrated success working with external customers and internal partners PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience working regularly with geographically remote groupsExperience with video processing (CODECs, video processing algorithms, video transport)Experience with real-time systemsExperience with IP networkingExperience with storage systemsExperience with cloud-based software development and deploymentExperience with agile development methodologies Years of Direct Experience Required:At least 8 years of technical work experienceAt least 2 years of management experience Areas of Direct Experience:Personnel and project management experience Educational Requirements:S. in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience#LI-CN1
