Working closely with the School of Dentistry leadership, the Institutional Research Analyst will be responsible for development, implementation, maintenance, enhancement, and support of data warehousing, business intelligence, dashboard creation, and reporting initiatives.
This position solves complex data problems found in higher education that requires speed and accuracy in arriving at a solution. This includes the initiation and research of project studies for analytics requirements/needs, development of reports, extracts, dashboards, and other business requirements. This position requires the developer to follow through the entire development process from translating the business need into technical requirements all the way to a successful solution with little supervision.

Required Qualifications: Bacheloru0027s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
General knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques; statistics or social science research techniques; knowledge of common organization-specific computer application programs
Knowledge of, and proficiency with, relational databases
Proficiency in computer applications such as Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Information management experience, including database programming. Utilize advance training in several software technologies such as SQL, PL/SQL, and Visual Basic for Applications to better structure, extract, and summarize information
Proficiency in Business Intelligence software
Demonstrated experience with technical writing and documenting including entity relationship diagramming
Experience working in both technical support and end-user support environments
Demonstrated ability to perform complex qualitative and quantitative analysis
History of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Strong ability to present information in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing
Thorough active listening, critical thinking, good interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task
Able to provide good judgment, decision-making, and problem solving
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
A willingness and passion to learn new hardware/software systems which are consistent with duties
Preferred Qualifications: Higher education and or clinical experience
Three to five years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA)
Understanding of organizational rules and regulations
Proficiency UCSF Data Warehouse
Data modeling, dimensional data modeling
Advanced knowledge and programming of relational databases such as Microsoft SQL, MS Access
Capable of providing technical expertise to colleagues in usage of certain software and systems, including Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, UCSF Enterprise Data Warehouse, Operation Data Store and others as requested
Experience using SSMS, TOAD, SQL Developer, or other DBMS support tools
Good understanding of database security and regulatory compliance requirements
Familiarity with a programming/macro language such as T-SQL, PowerShell, ProC/PL/SQL and Oracle database analysis
