The Center is looking to add an enthusiastic donor researcher to its expanding Development team. Under the supervision of the Manager of Donor Research and Trends, the Donor Research Associate will help meet the research needs of the Development team. She/he will proactively and reactively collect, analyze, synthesize, interpret, and appropriately disseminate information about the Center's donors and prospective donors in a user-friendly format. The position will also assist in prospect management and data maintenance tasks.
Respond quickly and enthusiastically to requests for research on donors and prospects by utilizing various fundraising research tools and techniques.
Clearly communicate actionable, complete research results to colleagues and complete all aspects of document and information storage.
Build relationships with donor-facing Development team members to maintain a solid grasp of their evolving research needs and donor information consumption preferences.
Identify, understand, condense and analyze biographical and philanthropic information to support prospect development.
Employ a wide variety of proactive prospecting methodologies to ensure a steady flow of prospective major donors to the Individual, Institutional and Bi/Multilateral Giving teams.
Create briefing materials for donor meetings and events.
Monitor top prospects via news alerts and push technology and share relevant updates with team members and colleagues.
Demonstrate persistence in difficult research situations as well as outstanding time management.
Stay current on industry trends and practices through relevant publications, associations and professional colleagues, and report regularly to the Development team on trends and individuals to watch.
Uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior for development professionals and ensure the confidentiality of donor information.
Bachelor's degree required and at least 2 years of experience in non-profit development or a related research field, such as information science, market research or journalism.
An unwavering energy and focus for research and analysis of complex information.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, accurately, and concisely.
Proven ability to prioritize work, managing multiple, diverse, and competing priorities while meeting dynamic deadlines that may shift. Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to work in a demanding environment.
