Apex Systems is seeking an experienced career and quality minded individuals for the collection, integration, maintenance, retrieval, clarification, interpretation, and dissemination of documents and maps in records management system(s) for historical and current purposes. The position is located in Downtown Atlanta. Local candidates preferred.
Job Title: Land Research Specialist
Contract: 6-12 months, potential to extend
Location: Atlanta, GA
A college level degree is preferred, in engineering, geography, real estate, or related field.
Minimum 2 years of college or 5 years of land records research experience required.
Experience interpreting right of way deeds and easements for electrical transmission and distribution.
General understanding of electric network components - generation, transmission, and distribution.
Ability to read and understand land rights legal documents (deeds/easements), including metes and bounds descriptions, and to synthesize information to present confident analysis on rights.
Spatial ability - can read, interpret, and correlate various types of maps (plans, profiles, plats, transmission grid book, distribution base maps, tax maps, atlases, etc.).
Ability to accurately research records available at county courthouse using typical indices, or at other government offices (chain of title research), and/or using computer databases.
Understanding and application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) techniques, especially digitization and geo-referencing of maps and plats, and GIS data creation, manipulation, and quality control.
Knowledge of geography of the state of Georgia and its public land system.
Primary customer service focus. Ability to deal with upset customers.
