GSAM Fundamental Equity and Direct Alternatives are investment teams that invest in global securities across all sectors utilizing a fundamental company selection process based on in-depth research.
Within GSAM, strategists (also known as ‘Strats’) play important roles in investment research, portfolio design and construction, and risk management analytics. A strategist will apply quantitative and analytical methods to come up with solutions that are accurate, robust and scalable.
The Fundamental Equity and Direct Alternatives businesses are looking to increase the use of systematic fundamental drivers, machine learning, and alternative data in their investment processes. To facilitate this, we are looking to hire a senior researcher with experience developing systematic equity investing strategies as well as experience analyzing alternative data sources.
You will be part of the GSAM Fundamental Equity and Direct Alternatives Strats Team, working closely with portfolio managers, equity analysts, risk managers, and senior management to combine systematic and fundamental research to drive investment results for our clients. You will also help to train other members of the team in systematic research and investing techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of experience in systematic equity investment research
Experience with fundamental equity research / equity valuation a plus
Experience with alternative data sources a plus
Outstanding background in a quantitative discipline (eg mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science at PhD or advanced Masters level)
Experience in statistics, data science, machine learning and/or predictive modelling.
Programming expertise (e.g. C , Python, R, Matlab)
Strong general and technical communication skills, with an ability to effectively articulate complex financial and mathematical concepts
Creativity and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
