Job Description:
SSAI is seeking a research scientist towork on an exciting project as part of the atmospheric lidar remote sensinggroup at NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The project involves supporting a multi-year airborne campaign on the NASAC-130 aircraft to study the atmospheric boundary layer using a state of the artlidar system. The successful candidate will have responsibility forthe project from instrument integration on the aircraft, testing, collectingdata during field missions and subsequent analysis of data to retrieve boundarylayer parameters.
Required Qualifications:
BS in atmospheric science or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience with lasers, optics, and/or detectors is highly desirable, as is previous experience with operating lidar systems and
instrumentation (particularly airborne lidar instrumentation)
Domestic and foreign travel is required
Experience with IDL programming language, Python, and strong data analysis skills
Must have an excellent team-oriented attitude and good communication skills
Eligibility to work in the US and ability to meet NASA's background investigation requirements for IT and physical access to NASA facilities
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with lasers, optics, and/or detectors is highly desirable
Prior field work experience is a plus
