Job Description Growth is our focus at the Electronic Systems Sector of BAE Systems, Inc.The Senior Principal Competitor Research Analyst helps achieve our strategic growth objectives by independently preparing, analyzing, and coordinating competitive forecasts in support of the integrated business planning process and the overall sector strategy. Will also be responsible for leading and/or supporting custom market and competitor analyses, and merger and acquisition analyses. The selected candidate will work with all levels of the organization, and parties internal and external to the company, to meet objectives.The Senior Principal Competitor Research Analyst will be located at one of Electronic Systems major locations; Nashua, NH area, Washington, DC area, San Diego, CA, Austin, TX, etc. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop the Integrated Business Planning Process and development of the sector’s annual Integrated Business Plan. Develops long-range competitive forecasting efforts for the Sector Portfolio and for specific businesses operating in a diverse set of military and commercial markets. Utilizes DOD and other relevant government budget documents, market forecasts and research databases to independently compile tailored forecast for Electronic Systems’ competitors and addressable markets.
Support the Integrated Business Plan with appropriate competitive and market intelligence.
Ability to leverage existing data and analysis to assess future competitive and market trends.
Interface with Sector leadership, Business Area executives, and other members of the Sector’s leadership community – as well as consultants, market analysts and other providers of third-party market research material – to ensure that addressable markets, market forecasts, market opportunities, and market shares are understood and coordinated. Coordinate with Business Winning Competitive Intelligence and Program Managers on specific customers and competitors.
Lead or participate in compiling market analyses, competitor assessments, acquisition candidate screens, and government program and budget analyses in support of the sector’s business areas. Prepare presentations, stage papers, analysis, and/ or strategic recommendations based on this work.
Support merger and acquisition activity by proactively screening for and researching target companies, gathering and compiling data, preparing analyses, assisting with preparation of recommendations, and maintaining confidentiality.
Directly support the Vice President, Strategy & Planning, on special, high-priority, quick turn research and analytic tasks as they arise.
Maintain a comprehensive listing of work products, including projects descriptions, points of contact, and location of work products.
Typical Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree and 8 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience
Strong oral presentation skills, negotiation skills, good interpersonal skills, demonstrated analysis and strategic thinking skills
Ability to use a wide range of computer applications (including advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint)
Ability to accurately manage and interpret large volumes of complex data
Ability to meet deadlines, demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to lead or facilitate meetings and planning sessions
Ability to secure a secret clearance may be required if business needs dictate
Preferred Skills and Education Bachelor’s degree in technical area with business exposure such as an assignment in program management or MBA coursework or a BS in a Business Discipline with technical exposure and knowledge of our target markets or customer sets
Knowledge of the Defense Electronics and Commercial Aerospace markets
Familiarity with DOD planning and budgeting process
