We are currently recruiting for a Director, Global Oncology Market Access for Diagnostics.

The position can be based in Upper Gwynedd, PA, Kenilworth, NJ, or Kriens, Switzerland and will report to the Executive Director, Global Oncology Market Access.

This position will be focused on assessing reimbursement opportunities and risks for currently launched and new Oncology diagnostic tests. Additionally, in collaboration with selected diagnostic companies, develop and execute the market access & reimbursement strategies for the diagnostic tests across all tumors requiring the diagnostic tests. It will require a strong understanding of the oncology market and shifting global payer environment, and experience in diagnostics, market access, pricing, health outcomes, and launch execution.

The person selected for this position will need to communicate and collaborate effectively, lead cross-functional as well as regional & local teams, articulate vision and objectives clearly to internal stakeholders and partners, plan and execute work according to timelines for market events and internal processes.

The selected candidate is expected to operate with integrity and transparency, as well as respect and adherence for the laws and regulations that govern our industry and our company policies.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

- Lead the market access input on assessment of diagnostic tests and companies, providing input on access capabilities of each diagnostic company, highlighting reimbursement risks that could impact commercialization efforts and developing risk mitigation plans to support commercialization
- Assess if and how Merck Oncology should collaborate with each diagnostic company, and lead the engagement with those diagnostic companies with which Merck Oncology would like to further deepen collaboration
- Working with Policy, assess the current payer reimbursement approaches and develop recommendations for both payers and policy stakeholders on improved approaches that best assess the true value of diagnostic tests and the benefit these tests provide to cancer patients and physicians
- To collaborate with medical and commercial diagnostic teams to prepare internal colleagues for the evolving diagnostic landscape and as it pertains to the product/indication specific value proposition including the role of the biomarker, cost of the biomarker, and impact this has on the total value on a per-indication and pan-tumor level.
- Develop training and associated materials to support the region and local market access colleagues as they prepare for product reimbursement (role of biomarker, evidence, pan-tumor impact, etc.)


Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

- BA/BS in a Business or Science related discipline


- MBA/MS or other post-graduate degree

Required Experience and Skills:

- Minimum 5 years in commercialization of diagnostics, including launch
- Minimum 5 years in oncology and/or market access & pricing
- Strong understanding of the evolving diagnostic environment in Oncology
- Experience in marketing, market research, pricing/reimbursement, outcomes research or managed markets
- Knowledgeable about product development and commercialization process
- Understanding of the global payer environment and perspectives
- Proven success working within large and complex strategic initiatives
- Experience successfully leading cross functional matrix teams
- Strong financial and analytical skills
- Strong project management and implementation/operational skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Strong commercial orientation and business acumen
- Strategic thinking and integration skills
