The RingCentral UX team is based at RingCentral HQ in Belmont, CA. We work closely with local Product and Engineering teams and remote development centers in Odessa, Ukraine, St. Petersburg, Russia and Ximan, China. Our team has a voice at the executive level of the organization, reporting directly to the EVP of Innovation. We execute our initiatives in an environment of collaboration, high productivity, and low drama.
The Senior UX Researcher
is the source of data-driven insight, the mediator of opinion, and an Explorer of people and processes, and the engine of user empathy in the organization. You ll spend your time understanding how users feel about specific implementation suggestions, learning how they use our tools currently to solve problems, and how we can advance our products to deliver business objectives by meet user needs. You ll answer the how, why, whether to, this or that, and the what if questions that drive our UX, Product, and Engineering organizations.
In this role, you will contribute to creating a shared vision and strategy for Ring Central s user experience. Your responsibilities include identifying user needs and goals; designing and conducting research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods; analyzing and reporting data gathered from companies and individuals who use or are considering RingCentral communication products.
You work equally well with designers and product managers, understanding the symbiosis that exists between the two. You have a passion for research, design and innovation. You understand how to elicit feedback from end users, customers and your internal Subject Matter Experts, and then communicate their goals and needs to your extended team.
This is not an entry-level position. You must be able to work independently on multiple projects, engaging at all levels of the organization from individual contributors to executive staff.
As a Senior User Experience Researcher, You will:
Lead and conduct user research, create personas, journey lines, identify tasks and information flows for given systems
Promote a culture of empathy for the end user, as seen through the focus on business objectives
Design, conduct, analyze, and report data gathered from qualitative and quantitative research techniques including but not limited to: lab-based and remote moderated and unmoderated usability testing; contextual inquiry/field studies; surveys; interviews; heuristic evaluations; ethnography and persona development; rapid iterative testing within an Agile environment
Lead cross-functional teams in design thinking methods to help them gain empathy for the end user, solve problems creatively and stimulate innovation
Design and execute usability studies at various stages of product development from early low-fidelity prototypes to high fidelity prototypes during the development lifecycle and analyze the results
Develop strategy and roadmap for user research across products
Work with end users and internal subject matter experts to understand their mental models and vision
Communicate research findings and recommendations to a broad audience
Contribute to user interface designs by providing guidance, ideas and feedback to interaction designers and developers.
Offer design support where needed
Bachelor s degree or higher from an accredited university in a Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting user research in a digital production environment
Passion for HCI and seamless user experiences
Proficiency in user research methods
Field research including contextual inquiry, in-depth interviews and surveys
Usability testing including lab-based and remote testing
Usability testing tools, including Morae, usertesting. com and UserZoom
M. S. in in Computer Science, Interaction Design, Visual Communication design or a related field or equivalent degree.
7-10 years of experience as UX practitioner (e. g. UX Researcher, Interaction Designer) on both consumer and enterprise applications
Knowledge of and experience with design thinking methods including visioning, empathy mapping, and brainstorming
Knowledge of service design
