Teva Pharmaceuticals, Biologics Division, located in Redwood City, is seeking a highly motivated research associate with a strong background in ligand/receptor biology to participate in the discovery and validation of novel biotherapeutics for the treatment of neurodegeneration and refractory pain disorders.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities will be the development, optimization and execution of cell-based and biochemical assays to support biotherapeutic lead discovery and to investigate the mechanism of action of candidate lead molecules. The successful candidate will be expected to independently manage small projects, work within tight timelines and contribute to the management of laboratory operations.
Education- BS or MA in cell biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, immunology or related field with 3-8 years of practical hands-on experience in an industry setting (biotechnology or pharmaceutical).
Prior experience in biotherapeutic drug discovery with a solid understanding of ligand-receptor structure/function, particularly GPCR and ion channel biology
Prior hands-on experience in a variety of contemporary in vitro biochemical and cell biological techniques to analyze receptor biology, including quantitative ELISA, calcium flux, cytotoxicity, cell-based phenotypic assays, and fluorescent microscopy for analysis of cellular trafficking and co-localization
Knowledge of image analysis and image manipulation software such as Photoshop is a plus
Exceptional organizational, problem solving and collaborative skills
Must be self-motivated and proactive, able to multi-task, and detail oriented with good notebook practices
Must be able to work independently to meet tight timelines efficiently and productively
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as effective listening and interpersonal skills
Prior experience in the field of neuroscience, in particular, neurodegeneration and/or pain signaling is highly desirable
