As one of the nations leading pediatric health care systems, Nemours is committed to providing all children with their best chance to grow up healthy. We offer integrated, family-centered care to more than 300,000 children each year in our pediatric hospitals, specialty clinics and primary care practices in Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Nemours strives to ensure a healthier tomorrow for all children even those who may never enter our doors through our world-changing research, education and advocacy efforts. At Nemours, our Associates help us deliver on the promise we make to every family we have the privilege of serving: to treat their child as if they were our own. Nemours is seeking a Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist to join our team at Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (NCCBD) in Wilmington, DE. This is a clinical position with Hematology-Oncology case mix. NCCBD-W is an active member of the Childrens Oncology Group (COG), and physicians have access to COG protocols and research through the Nemours Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, which is now a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). The division is supported by on-site research assistants for ongoing clinical trials in Hematology and Oncology, ARNP & PA support in clinic, and an on-site chemotherapy and transfusion clinic. NCCBD provides a full range of on-site pediatric specialty departments and access to academic opportunities. Duties will include all aspects of direct patient care in both the acute and ambulatory settings utilizing the electronic medical record (EPIC). The NCCBD-W has a host of supportive staff as part of the patient care delivery team that includes nutrition, social work, child life, pharmacy and PT/OT. The acute care setting in the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is a teaching setting affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Sidney Kimmel Medical School of Thomas Jefferson University. Physician candidates must have completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology Oncology and Pediatrics. Nemours is an internationally recognized, multi-site pediatric health care system that is built upon a centralized, efficient and collaborative infrastructure committed to improving the health of all children. The mission of Nemours is to improve the health and health care of children by seeking new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood diseases and to educate the next generation of leaders in childrens health. The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children is located in Wilmington, Delaware, with a 200-bed patient care expansion that opened in November, 2016. This facility combines state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient facilities for the evaluation and management of infants and children with complex medical conditions, including children with cancer. It serves as a regional referral facility with academic ties to the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Currently, more than 300 active research projects and clinical trials are in progress under the direction of 100 Nemours physician-scientists, 22 Ph.D. center directors and laboratory heads, and 165 support staff. In 2012, with over 25 years experience in clinical trials research, the Nemours pediatric oncology sites formed the Nemours Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP), which was funded in June of 2013. In the first six months of funding, the Nemours CCOP eclipsed Cancer Control accruals from previous years (now 4th among all Childrens Oncology Group sites). Just this month (August 2014), Nemours secured a 5-year grant from the National Cancer Institute of the NIH in support of the Nemours NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). The Nemours NCORP is only the second pediatric NCORP in the country, and, as the NIH review stated, It is anticipated that the Nemours NCORP is poised to make substantive contributions to the NCI NCORP research agenda and can serve as a national model for other pediatric cancer health care systems and other childrens collaborative and cooperative research entities for years to come. Our dedication to professionals who are dedicated to children frequently earns Nemours a spot on the list of top workplaces in the communities we serve. Our Associates enjoy comprehensive benefits, including our unique Bridge to a Healthy Future pediatric health plan, an integrated wellness program, opportunities for professional growth, and much more. As an equal opportunity employer, Nemours focuses on the best-qualified applicants for our openings.
