Profile

We are seeking a User Researcher to join our Design & User Experience team.
Your mission will be to help NerdWallet develop innovative new products and services, as well as improve existing ones. It’s about deeply understanding the needs and behaviors of our users, and generating actionable insights to drive product and design strategy. You will be an early member of the User Research team and have the ability to contribute to high-impact projects right away.
Where you can make an impact:
Work on multiple large research initiatives from beginning to end (preparation, execution, analysis, reporting, sharing insights)
Partner with product, engineering, design, and business leads throughout the research and design process
Employ a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods, both in the lab and in the field
Analyze and synthesize research findings into actionable insights
Communicate research findings to project stakeholders
Adapt and innovate research practices to meet team needs under the tight timeframes of a rapidly growing company
Evangelize user experience research and user-centered design throughout the company
Your experience:
2-4 years of relevant research experience, in the lab and in the field, on mobile and/or web products.
You have a degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Human Factors, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Behavioral Economics, or another relevant field
You have a track record of discovering, synthesizing, and socializing actionable insights that have influenced real products
You are confident leading research projects using a wide variety of qualitative research techniques (e.g. usability testing (remote, RITE, in-lab), ethnography, contextual inquiry, concept testing, diary studies)
You are confident using a variety of quantitative research techniques (e.g., UX benchmarking, survey analysis, interpreting A/B test results and/or behavioral analytics)
You are self driven and take initiative to identify research needs and solve problems
You clearly, concisely, and persuasively communicate research findings
You work well on an ego-free, highly collaborative, and cross-functional team
You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
Nice to have:
Experience packaging insights into design tools product managers and designers can leverage (i.e. personas, journey mapping, design principles, scenarios, frameworks, etc.)
Knowledge of standard research tools (e.g., UserTesting.com, Google Forms, Survey Monkey, etc) is a bonus
Background in behavior change / behavioral economics (especially in finance or health) is a bonus
