A Creative Group client is in need of a New Product Acquisition Associate. Under the guidance and supervision of the New Product Acquisition leadership team: • Play an integral role in the research, identification, testing and selection of new products for inclusion in the company's product mix • Work collaboratively with other functional departments (Product Development, Direct-Response Marketing, Creative, Legal, etc.) within the company, in support of the aforementioned • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • On a daily basis, research, uncover, and analyze hot consumer products sales data and trend information in the retail brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, television-shopping channel and mail-order catalog environments • Present credible new-product ideas to the leadership team, aligned with the company's business strategy, aimed at increasing sales and profitability • Evaluate and maintain a record of previously considered products and ideas as well as those submitted by product licensors, inventors, invention companies, etc. • Identify, track and make suggestions, including acquisition of new technologies, to improve new-product acquisition strategies, efficiencies and sources, on a continual basis • Monitor and analyze market trends and competing consumer-products companies, to ensure competitiveness in the market • Research and analyze consumer-satisfaction ratings, to uncover key-selling propositions and potential product improvements • Based on uncovering credible data and information, suggest line extensions and upsell opportunities to the leadership team, in support of growing the company's existing and future product lines • Adhere to and promote company values by performing duties in a manner that is consistent with being a team member, and support the continued growth of the company • Perform other related duties, assignments, and administrative tasks as required REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor's Degree required (Marketing, Business Administration or Communication preferred) • Understanding of category gross-margin targets and SKU efficiencies • One to three years of related work experience preferred in a consumer-packaged goods, retail merchandising, retail-buying industry, etc. • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of urgency • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills, working in a collaborative manner • Microsoft Office Suite (Acrobat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Internet savvy QUALIFICATIONS: • efficient, self-starter who works extremely well both autonomously and in a team environment • Can-do attitude and genuine passion, enthusiasm and interest in the consumer products industry • Ability to handle the pressure and flexibility of a fast-paced, creative environment
