The medical device research engineer collaborates with the lab Principal Investigators and senior lab staff to develop innovative technological solutions by applying engineering principles to clinical needs, and experimentally evaluating these solutions through bench-top and animal testing to reach their understanding. Assists in disseminating results to the engineering and medical communities through oral presentations and publications at Conferences and Seminars.
Master’s degree in engineering, physics or a related technical field.
This position requires a mix of intellectual, technical and interpersonal skills and gives the candidate an opportunity to play an active role in designing and implementing research projects with other scientists.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using confocal, multi-photon and/or other light microscopes, will enjoy interacting with students, postdocs and faculty one on one and in small groups, and will speak and write clearly.
Experience with live animal multiphoton microscopy is especially desirable.
Work requires the ability to design, compare and implement creative technical solutions that address important clinical needs.3.
Work requires the ability to fabricate mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
