Evaluates and interprets incoming intelligence reports and information to provide comprehensive support to locate, acquire, review, select, and organize intelligence materials for use in briefings, reports, memos, and other analytical products;
Conducts detailed review and analysis of intelligence reports and requests for investigation from outside agencies and subsequently makes recommendations on actions to be taken based on an in-depth review;
Plans, develops, organizes, and conducts special research studies providing comprehensive assessments of broad, exceptionally complex, or highly sensitive issues;
Develops methods of evaluating the validity, accuracy, and reliability of a broad array and high volume of information, for translation into intelligence relevant to the organization; and
Independently drafts basic intelligence reports or sections of more complex interagency intelligence assessments.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service that included experience such as:
Analyzing intelligence data from a variety of sources to develop trends/patterns/profiles/estimates/studies;
Preparing intelligence reporting products on specific subjects or geographic areas to contribute to a larger study; and
Ensuring that law enforcement operations and intelligence data is properly classified/stored/handled in accordance with pertinent directives.
OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree such as LL.M or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.degree; or a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level.
Applicant must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service that included experience such as:
Monitoring message traffic to identify potential threats to ICE entities and create intelligence threat assessments and appropriate reporting streams;
Developing potential sources of information inside and outside the intelligence community to assist in law enforcement, emergency management, and intelligence operations; and
Provide law enforcement, emergency management and intelligence segments to a larger product for review by and dissemination to high-level stakeholders.

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Office of Professional Responsibility, Homeland Security Investigations.

You will be required to attend the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Basic Intelligence Training (ICEBIT) course, which is located at the HIS Intelligence Training Center in Rosslyn, Virginia. The five-week course is designed for ICE Intelligence Research Specialists (IRS) and Intelligence Operations Specialists (IOS), providing them with the basic skills necessary to be effective and successful IRSs/IOSs while supporting DHS and ICE missions. Specific intelligence training must be completed according to the standards of the HSI Office of Intelligence. Failure to do so will be grounds for mandatory removal from the position. Such failure will result in either reassignment to a different position, demotion, or separation by appropriate procedures.
