Job duties

The Institutional Researcher provides support for educational effectiveness and institutional research activities. They are also responsible for the data research, analysis, planning, measurement, and reporting of all programs and services, and making appropriate recommendations for improvements. Additionally, the Institutional Researcher will provide research for university administration strategic planning, enrollment management, and marketing.

This function supports the integration of results into managerial practice and provides substantial contributions to the growth and continued success of the institution. This is a high-priority role with big data needs.

Job duties

Provide institutional research and planning data collection, tabulation, consultation, and reporting for accreditation, strategic planning, enrollment management, and educational effectiveness activities for National University and its affiliates.

Provide expertise and guidance on survey research design and methodology as needed to all university stakeholders, including the office of Educational Effectiveness and Accreditation.

Serve as a university resource by presenting reports, research findings to faculty, staff, and also externally at conferences and other professional organizations.

Provide training to Academic Services staff and provide technical interpretations and analytical consultations.

Peer review data, dashboards, and reports submitted by IR team members. Share expertise and knowledge through the internal review process. Serve as a mentor and team lead to any new IR team members.

Extract data from existing systems, and restructure it in a manner that allows for robust analysis and information. Analyze and interpret complex and diverse computer-generated data using multivariate statistical techniques.


Education & Experience:

A Master’s degree in a related field (research methods, statistics, applied mathematics, data analytics, industrial/organizational psychology or related field) is required.

Minimum of five (5) years of recent professional experience in an institutional research, data analytics, or other university research setting, or the equivalent.

Proven experience with primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative research methodology, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Proficiency with statistical analysis techniques, database management, report writing, and presentation.

Supervisory experience is preferred.

Fully accustomed to working on multiple projects, both independently and as a team player.

Experience using statistical software (SAS/R/SPSS or equivalent),

Demonstrated knowledge in data management computer applications, query tools (SQL), and relational databases to extract data and restructure it for robust analysis.

Proficient in the following software applications: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Redmine, PeopleSoft/SOAR.

Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and Statistical analysis software (STATA or R) required.
