The Global Category Manager has primary responsibility to support and/or lead medium sized to large complex procurement and sourcing related activities across various categories in Indirect Procurement (Marketing, Sales or Services). Role will support local Procurement in Country Areas and business units in the development of category strategies that are aligned with Teva corporate strategy and financial goals. Execution of strategies for medium sized and large complex sourcing projects related to but may not be limited to Primary and Secondary Market Research. The Global Category Manager will provide high quality analytics and support (host supplier meetings, coordinate activities to bring project to closure, manage communication, and draft documents as required) for RFx activities, negotiations planning and supplier management.
Key responsibilities include gathering market intelligence and developing business requirements; spend analysis, supply market and supply chain analysis, supplier risk assessment and sustainability and cost analysis and modeling while executing on category strategy. Develop clear category strategies that are applicable across multi markets and geographic areas. Focus on strategy for primary and secondary market research.
Supports SVP Indirect Procurement in development and implementation of global and regional Procurement goals and objectives.
Build category governance models to establish highly integrated ways of working with key business units across multiple geographic regions
Responsible for achieving a defined set of corporate and procurement objectives – most notably for savings delivery, supplier risk and process improvement.
Assure alignment between Procurement, Business Unit and Corporate Goals
Represent assigned categories and geographies at global and regional levels
Guide cross-functional teams in the application of the Sourcing Management Process
Develop and deploy an effective strategy to increase Teva’s ability to leverage volume globally, regionally and locally.
Conduct supply market research to provide category intelligence and benchmarks on industry dynamics, trends and best practices.
Develop and coordinate all sourcing activities for the team, including directing and approving competitive bidding (RFx) processes. Review and approve complex RFX documentation being issued by the team.
Effectively communicate the impact of sourcing decisions to management and employees as appropriate (actively enroll their support).
Develop effective supplier negotiation plans and strategies.
Implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Programs with key suppliers to foster innovation, track performance metrics and ensure ongoing continuous improvement.
Interface directly with Finance to document savings and drive compliance
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in Business Administration, Finance or Supply Chain
Education Preferred: MBA and/or relevant certification is preferred i.e. Six Sigma, CPM, CPP, etc.
Certifications Preferred: Domain knowledge and experience is underpinned by the appropriate credentials i.e. ISM-CPM, CIPS, etc. and industry recognition awards
Experience Required: 7-10 years’ experience operating on behalf of the Procurement Function within a large matrix organization.
Experience Preferred: 7 years in a Sourcing Leadership Role, 3 years in the generic or pharmaceutical industry, 3 years leading multinational teams, [Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma Methodology experience a plus]
Able to translate strategic vision into tactical plans and manage the change required to execute.
Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional teams, managing multiple simultaneous projects and delivering quantifiable results.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal – the ability to gain executive support
Strong Interpersonal/Relationship Management Skills, ability to mentor, manage and develop staff as well as manage/develop suppliers
Strong analytical skills and conceptual thinking that drives strategy and creates innovative options
Solid business judgment, able to anticipate impact of decisions and initiatives.
Superior financial modeling and problem solving skills.
Excellent supplier negotiation and conflict management skills.
Proficiency with the 5- or 7-Step Sourcing Processes
Language requirements: Proficiency with spoken and written English
Travel Requirements – International: ~5%
