Job Description The Research Manager will provide direct support to the Principal Investigators. Specific responsibilities will include, but not limited to, organizing clinical trials startup and logistics, managing the day to day research administrative needs of the Principal Investigators including grant preparation, literature searches, completing sponsor reports, manuscript preparation, gathering data for complex research grants, and assisting with initial IRB submissions and the running of operations of clinical trials. This position will also assist the clinical research coordinations with data entry, sponsor queries, and any other project needs. This position will follow VCU internal processes to ensure compliance with VCU policies related to research activities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory and fiscal compliance standards. They will also be responsible for coordination of contracting between VCU and third-party sponsors, development of budgets for federal and industry sponsored research, and maintaining post-award accounts of expenses and reimbursements. The Research Manager will also invoice sponsors for specific activities for sponsored research and will meet with the Principal Investigator regularly to review grants, contracts and budgets and will write budget proposals and business plans for project development.
