User Experience Researcher, Nest
Nest Design is an interdisciplinary group. We value visual design, interaction design, writing, audio, prototyping and research as equal pillars of the product. As a User Experience (UX) Researcher, you'll work on new initiatives at Nest. You will play a key role in influencing product definition, using end-to-end research strategically, and working closely with Design, Product Management, Engineering, business partners, and Nest executives.
As a UX Researcher at Nest, you will be part of the team that drives the design for systematic and innovative products and features. Researchers on the team bring deep knowledge of research practices, understand trade-offs for using methods, are grounded in an understanding of UX at different parts of the product cycle, and can collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary partners and stakeholders.

Conduct independent research on multiple aspects of Nest products, focusing on research around new initiatives.
Collect and analyze user behavior through mixed methods, including lab studies, field visits, interviews, ethnography, surveys, concept evaluations, leveraging existing feedback mechanisms, etc.
Work with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other UXRs to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research and advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentations.
“Tell the User’s Story” internally by creating a coherent narrative across studies.
BA/BS degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Anthropology, HCI or other related fields or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of work experience.
Master's or PhD degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices.
Understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during the product development process.
Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
A passion for delightful, minimalist, and useful products for the home. Comfortability in a variety of working environments.
