Role: Enterprise Data Architect Location: Mountain View, CA Duration: Permanent Job Description: Client is researching new technologies and developing the architecture for the next generation Smart Data Centers to support their mobility vision. Position Overview: We are looking for a researcher who has deep experience in Big Data, Information management, data modeling, data warehousing and analytics technologies to lead both tactical and strategic research in all areas of information management and data analytics platforms across products and geographical areas. This individual will perform research on next generation Big Data topics including scale, complexity, data management, security, latency, etc. This individual will develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying vehicle data and products and become the subject matter expert on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the quality and interrelationship between core elements of the vehicle data repository and data products. This individual will architect and design future Big Data analytic solutions on a Hadoop–based platform, create new and custom analytic and data mining algorithms to improve query performance and improve data analysis. This individual will provide leadership in next generation Big Data research that are required for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data. This position will work with various entities to collect and analyze data requirements and provide leadership to support other organizations to migrate their data to new data centers. In addition, the position requires impeccable communications to engage broadly across a number of subsidiaries. This position reports to the Chief Architect. Job Purpose: Responsible for architecture vision and design of next generation data infrastructure. Responsibilities: Research in the areas of advanced data techniques, including data ingestion, data processing, data integration, data access, data visualization, text mining, data discovery, statistical methods, database design and implementation. Define and achieve the strategy roadmap for Big Data architecture and design and overall enterprise data governance and management across the enterprise and Smart Data Centers. Establish standards and guidelines for the design & development, tuning, deployment and maintenance of information, advanced data analytics, ML/DL, data access frameworks and physical data persistence technologies. Define new data infrastructure platform to capture vehicle data. Research and develop new data management solutions, approaches and techniques for data privacy and data security, and advanced Data Analytics systems. Utilize of advanced data analysis, including statistical analysis, data mining techniques, and use of computational packages such as SAS, R or SPSS. Create discover-access-distill (“DAD”) strategies to bring significant value data understanding. Define and lead the realization of the data strategy roadmap for client portfolio including data modeling, implementation and data management. Document architectural standards and technology framework. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 10-20 years of increasingly technical work experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Advanced degree in Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or related fields is a plus. Experience in technology companies and/or research environment is a big plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 15 years in data architecture and/or engineering role, and 10 years as an Data architect in a large IT organization. Strong capability in researching, evaluating and implementing new and improved data solutions for multi-national enterprises. Experience in developing use cases, functional specs, design specs, ERDs etc. 5 years of experience with distributed scalable Big Data store or NoSQL, including Cassandra, Cosmos DB, Cloudbase, HBase, or Big Table. Experience in with Apache Hadoop and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS), S3 protocol, ObjectStore and with processing large data stores. Experience with the design and development of multiple object–oriented systems. Experience with extending Free and Open–Source Software (FOSS) or COTS products. Demonstrate experience designing, deploying and maintaining architectures across the following technical areas: Data storage ­ petabyte scale architectures. Knowledge discovery ­ advanced knowledge in entity and relationship extraction from unstructured data. Data governance ­ experienced in developing and integrating software allowing for flexible and scalable data transformation with data quality controls. Data visualization ­ knowledge of tools that are cost-effective and make it easy for end users to better understand and produce reports and graphs. Data Security and Privacy – knowledge of data privacy and security w.r.t country specific laws and system implementation. Ability to produce effective and meaningful documentation for technical issues, turn complex problems into simple steps with clear actions. Present developed materials to a variety of target internal audiences from executive summaries to technician instructions. Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot high-level, complex and technical problems. Strong track record to drive rapid prototyping and design for Big Data. Must have strong work ethic, strive to satisfy stakeholders, and possess ability to operate independently and timely with minor supervision. Ability to show flexibility, initiative, and innovation when dealing with ambiguous and fast–paced situations. Strong soft skills including verbal communication, leadership, and consulting. Certifications and Licenses: TOGAF Enterprise Architecture or equivalent. Expertise in Big Data, Hadoop, Time Series Database, Object Storage. Expertise with Cloud vendors like Azure or AWS. Expertise in Data Integration patterns.
