Infoscitex (IST), a DCS company, has an opportunity for an Operations Research Analyst to help support high visibility Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) efforts in our team St. Louis team. In this role, you will conduct research and development efforts including assisting study lead, with the development of study requirements and plans, and execution of hands on analysis. You will join a team developing software for the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). AFSIM is a U.S. Air Force simulation environment for engagement- and mission-level analysis by military operations research analysts to evaluate combat effectiveness of advanced weapon system concepts. AFSIM is a Monte Carlo simulation tool that either may be run constructively to generate analytic results, or in real time to support Operator in the Loop (OITL) Experimentation and Wargaming needs. AFSIM is now becoming accepted as a standard operations analysis tool throughout industry, as well as the Defense (DoD) community.
Our work focuses on conducting capability assessments for emerging aerospace technologies and ensuring related tools and methodologies are suitable for DoD Decision Support Systems. This opportunity supports aerospace technologies research and provides a dynamic work environment with opportunities to work with state of the art simulation technologies, simulation integration experts, and military Subject Matter Experts (SME).
You could expect to:
Collaborate with study lead and customer stakeholders to identify study requirements and develop relevant technical approaches.
Contribute to the development and execute MS&A study plans.
Collaborate with subject matter experts, such as pilots and technologists, to identify requirements for system implementation in models and simulations.
Coordinate with team members to conduct analysis of studies, analyze results, and prepare and present study findings; and ensure application of MS&A best practices for all analysis efforts.
Some short-term intermittent travel may be required.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
At least a BS in Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. At least 5 years of related experience. (We have multiple levels associated with this opportunity category. Candidates with varied educational and experience levels may be considered for alternative classifications.)
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: ability to attain a Secret clearance.
Ability to apply Operations Research (OR) principles, theories, and concepts to study tasks.
Solve OR problems of moderate to advanced complexity.
Exhibit excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
Experience with engagement or mission level simulation environments.
Ability to apply the scientific method to diverse MS&A efforts.
Ability to travel, if needed.
While not firm requirements, we do feel an ideal candidate would also bring:
MS or advanced degree in management or a technical discipline.
Experience with Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments; specifically, AFSIM/AFNES, FLAMES/HELIOS, Suppressor, ESAMS, or Brawler.
Background in combat analysis.
Familiarity with modern military aircraft, both foreign and domestic.
Background in probability and statistics.
Computer programming experience.
