Primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to lead and supervise the R&D team for Triumph Foods. This includes interacting with the laboratory, operations, HACCP, QA, USDA, and management. It will also involve direct interaction with producers for specific projects.
The person filling this role will be responsible for leading the collection of data and reporting of those data to the Director, Meat Science. These data will include temperatures, pH, color, yields, cut outs, and others as deemed necessary by the Director, Meat Science. A qualified candidate must be able to work as part of a team and coordinate research efforts with management and laboratory personnel. Other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to basic statistical analysis of data, using macros in excel, and technical support of operations.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
Schedule development and maintenance
Responsible for all compilation and reporting of results, including, but not limited to:
Autofom and telemetry
Validation and management of data
Ensure the correct measurements are coming from the correct source
Ensure the accuracy of the data, both at acquisition and through entry to database
Both provide data to users and protect data integrity
HACCP Plan Validation Testing
SQF reporting, record keeping, etc.
Use of SPC and Information To Support Plant Requirements
Liaison with producers, operations, food safety groups on research oriented projects
Coordination of research projects and personnel needs with the laboratory manager
Effectively supervise and work directly with staff of Research Technicians/Support
Education and/or experience:
A B.S. degree (minimum) in a science or accounting field. Candidate must be computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook) capable of data analysis and interpretation. Demonstrated R&D skills, including using a pH meter, Minolta, thermometers, primal cuts, muscle dissection, problem solving, and decision making. Shows leadership potential as demonstrated through previous research, projects, and/or management responsibilities. Must be a detail-oriented, effective performer, who can operate within strict time lines and adapt to a fast-paced multi-task environment. Must be self-motivated, committed to performing quality work and able to work within a team environment. Looking for a responsible individual willing to complete tasks assigned without being asked numerous times and willing to take ownership of projects from start to completion. Is dedicated and willing to put forth the extra effort and time to accomplish duties.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess the skill set to effectively and clearly communicate with others within and outside of the Company. Working knowledge of current industry processing practices/live production practices. Experience in data collection and analysis of data. Experience with writing macros for data interpretation in Excel.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel/hold objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; speak, hear, taste and smell. Employee may occasionally lift, push/pull up to forty (40) pounds.
The work environment would be a research type setting and time spent through the entire facility which would include climate extremes.
Normal Work Schedule:
Generally nine (9-10) or more hours/day as scheduled by management. Normally Monday through Friday as scheduled and weekends as necessary.
