The Department of Human Genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity for a Research Associate 1. This individual will report to Dr. Shiekhattar, Professor in the department of Human Genetics. The incumbent will perform technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans and will provide technical assistance in carrying out various research projects and will be collecting and organizing information for project reports. This position will contribute to the development and enhancement of translational approaches to cancer treatment through elucidation of the molecular mechanisms, in particular epigenetic processes, underlying transcriptional deregulation and pathogenesis.
The minimum qualifications for this position are as follows: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science or a closely related discipline. Prefer one year of laboratory experience performing non-routine and complex laboratory duties. Ability to successfully work as part of a team and take direction from the Postdoctoral Associates as well as the Scientists. Excellent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good command of the English language. Good presentation skills. Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. Ability to apply logic and demonstrate problem solving skills. Possess good experimental techniques. Ability to conduct research efficiently with flexibility.

Patient safety is a top priority.
