The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Department of Physics invites nominations and applications for at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Assistant Professor in Atomic Layers and Quantum Optics, beginning September 1, 2017.
Founded in 1868, **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located on the Virginia Peninsula in the City of Hampton. It is a privately endowed, co-educational, nonsectarian institution. The Department of Physics offers Ph.D., MS, and BS degrees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants are expected to lead the project over the next year(s) with optional reappointment based on satisfactory performance and available funding. The duties and responsibilities include: 1) active research and publications in top-tier journals; 2) research leadership with junior colleagues/research assistants; 3) acceptance on laboratory-wide research activities and strong research interaction with the program leader.
The Quantum Optics and NanoPhotonics Laboratory in the Department of Physics at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Associate positions. The applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in physics or a related discipline; at least one first-authored article in top-tier journal is highly desirable. The strong preferences include sufficient experience with atomic layers and optoelectronic devices, quantum optics, micro spectroscopy, imaging, or/and quantum nonlinear optics.
Experience managing or supervising multiple junior colleagues on research team(s) is also desirable. The successful applicant should have research experience(s) in topical areas of quantum nonlinear optics, quantum coherence in atomic layers, and optoelectronic devices, but not limited to exciton polariton laser, piezoelectric devices, Hall devices, white light LEDs, thermoelectric devices, etc.
