Job Summary: This position will serve as a Clinical Research Technician (CRT) within the CTRC. The Center is the largest entity on campus supporting clinical trials across the School of Medicine/UNC Health Care. The CRT will support study implementation under the guidance of the clinical research nurse within the context of a care delivery settings such as the NC TraCS Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC), community locations, and research on location within the Schools of UNC (i.e. Dentistry, Nursing, Medicine, etc.), UNC Medical Center and UNC Health Care. The CRT supports clinical research studies by maintaining front office operations, ensuring supply inventories and performing procedures). The CRT ensures the integrity of research data while maintaining care that is safe, efficient, timely, effective, equitable, compassionate and patient-centered. Primary duties will include performing technical skills for adult and pediatric research participants with diverse medical problems as well as healthy volunteers in the CTRC units or at research on location sites (including driving to a site). Procedures will include, but not limited to, the measurement and documentation of vital signs, height, and weight; performing EKGs, point of care testing, and specimen collection, handling and processing. The individual will provide clinical support assistance to include, but not limited to, cleaning of the work area, maintaining office equipment, checking supply inventory, re-stocking supplies, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and users. The individual will provide a variety of front office operations to include, but not limited to, participant scheduling, greeting and directing visitors, supporting the healthcare team with information and administrative support, answering and directing telephone calls from visitors, staff, and participants, and relaying messages for participants, families, physicians, nurses, and other staff from multiple departments. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
