Healing made personal. BiostatisticainII - 2310330 Roles & Responsibilities: The BiostatisticianProgrammer will be a member of the research group of Dr. Allan Just in EnvironmentalMedicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Thecollaborative research group studies how environmental pollutants impactchildren's health. Specifically, the group works to incorporate highdimensional data into environmental epidemiologic studies with ongoing researchin air pollution exposure modeling with remote sensing (e.g. multi-terabytedatasets from NASA satellites) and also in epigenomics (e.g. hundreds ofthousands of methylation sites per microarray sample). The lab is based in alarge department that is a leader in environmental public health researchwithin a prominent academic medical campus next to Central Park in Manhattan'sUpper East Side. Mount Sinai offers many opportunities to learn new researchskills and this position may fit a candidate with strong statisticalprogramming skills seeking additional research experience in environmentalbiostatistics and data science.While expertise with the R programming language is required, additional experiencewith command line tools and work with high performance computing approacheswill be desirable. The job description is a broad outline of the dutiesrequired and will be renewed and modified in consultation with the PI, as theresearch program further develops. Conductreproducible statistical analyses in the R language including extensive use ofmachine-learning and geospatial packages (e.g. caret, mgcv, sf, raster)Learnto assist in descriptive, exploratory, and systematic analyses of diverse typesof data including NASA satellite products as well as microarray and nextgeneration sequencing dataCleanand manage project files including merging, conversion, and reformatting ofdiverse data typesConductand document analyses using reusable code and tools for reproducible research(e.g. git, github, knitr)Preparepresentation materials, scientific figures, and other rich data summariesAssist in manuscript preparation with the possibility of co-authorship onscientific publicationsAssist and advise group members on biostatistics approaches including advancedregression and epidemiologic methods, spatial statistics, and high dimensionalanalyticsParticipatein research group meetings, including presenting summaries of ongoing analysesCommunicatewith research partners in domestic and international collaborationsReviewand verify code prepared by other research group membersAssistin developing R packages to extend computational methodsRemaininformed of new developments in statistical programming that relate to theresearch programPerformother related duties Requirements:Master'sdegree in biostatistics, computational biology or relatedExperienceworking as a biostatistician in a research environment Strength Through Diversity The Mount Sinai Health Systembelieves that diversity is a driver for excellence.
