The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute's (HHRI) Berman Center for Clinical Outcomes and Research (****seeking to fill a full-time Research Assistant. This position will support the BRINK study (BRain In Kidney Disease Study) which will examine common memory problems in patients with and without chronic kidney disease (CKD), and the posssible causes of these memory problems.rnPOSITION SUMMARY:rnScreens, recruits patients, and determines patient eligibility for participation in study.  Collects and interprets study data in an organized and precise fashion to maintain data integrity.  Disburses and tracks funds to study participants on a timely basis.  Provides comprehensive study support and contributes to successful project execution. Responsible for protocol initiation, procedural adherence, and compliance. rnESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  rnrnScreens, recruits patients, and determines patient eligibility for participation in study via patient histories, test results, medical exams, etc. rnObtains informed consent and administers and scores psychological, intellectual, and/or other medical assessments and tests.rnResponsible for procedural adherence, and compliance.rnObtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection.rnMaintains and operates various scientific apparatus including but not limited to electrocardiograph, hand grip dynamometer, and blood pressure monitor.rnDocuments and consistently maintains detailed records and research data files. rnHandle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity.rnAssist with data entry, data cleaning, and the preparation of reports.rnMay accurately disburse and track funds to study participants and book transportation. rnCollects and interprets study data in an organized and precise fashion to maintain data integrity.rnrnRegularly schedules study related testing as required by protocols. rnrnrnConsult with PI and Study Coordinator on management of participant problems and concerns.rnProvide administrative coverage for the BRINK study and as an assistant to the BRINK Primary Investigator, project manager, and study coordinator as the need arises (general clerical: typing, printing, copying, preparing correspondence, answering phones, inter-organization pick-up and delivery).rnParticipate in BRINK Team meetings rnrnEMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:rnEducation/Experience:rnAny equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be completion of two (2) years of post-high school education and six (6) months experience in a related area and/or in research.  Bachelor's degree preferred.rnSkill, Knowledge & Ability (SKA):rnRequires interaction with a diverse population, specifically those with a substance use disorder.  Phlebotomy skills or willingness to be trained, desired.  Aptitude with cell phone apps a plus.  Demonstrate working knowledge of basic personal computing (e.g., Microsoft Office).  Knowledge of research methodology for working with human subjects and of general research principles.  Knowledge of or exposure to psychological, medical, and/or intellectual assessments, and written test instruments.  Ability to communicate effectively and develop rapport with research subjects, ability to adapt and be flexible, and the ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.  Displays high standards of attendance, punctuality, maintains confidentiality, and manages time effectively.  rn rnAA/EOE of Minorities, Women, Disabilities, Veterans
