The Department of Health and Community Systems is seeking a qualified Research Project Manager to collaborate with Dr. Catherine Bender, Endowed Chair in Oncology Nursing, in research responsibilities of funded projects, including a large intervention study to improve cognitive function in women with breast cancer (see ****for detailed information about this study). Dr. Bender’s research has contributed significantly to the study of cognitive function and mood in patients with cancer.
The incumbent will assume primary responsibility for coordinating an interdepartmental research team at the School of Nursing and Department of Psychology and will be responsible for monitoring data integrity, including data completeness, accuracy, and quality. Duties will also include assisting the PI in overseeing implementation of the intervention at multiple sites and developing methods and/or policies and procedures for intervention research and assisting with the execution of research protocols. This position will also be responsible for scheduling and supervising research team members including graduate student researchers and work-study students and coordinating the interviewing, orienting, and training of study staff. The incumbent will play an important role in assisting with business operations of the research study, which will include: assisting with the preparation of annual reports to funding agencies; assisting with the preparation of budget; and assisting with manuscripts, scientific presentations and grant applications.
Minimum Related Experience Level Required
2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
Master’s degree required, preferably in Nursing or other clinical
field. Licensed registered nurse strongly preferred, completion of research
certificate program preferred. Knowledge of the research process, informed
consent and other ethical issues as they pertain to research, particularly
randomized trials of behavioral interventions. This position requires excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
