AIRs Research and Evaluation area is seeking a Research Associate to join our team in Washington, DC. The associate would contribute to the development of statistics about education that inform the discussion, debate and planning of decision-makers at national, state, and local levels through a contract with the National Center for Education Statistics. Our work includes survey and assessment design, analysis of assessment and survey data, and reporting and dissemination of research results.


The candidate will provide support for research and reporting activities, including producing and reviewing draft NCES products (tables, reports, data files, file documentation, and web sites), contributing to the research on large-scale assessment methodology; analyzing assessment or survey data for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and other NCES studies, and supporting work of other research and reporting team members.


*M.A. in fields such as statistics, economics, educational policy or other related fields;

*Proficiency with statistical software packages such as R, Stata, HLM, or SAS;

*Experience in working with, and analyzing results from large-scale survey or assessment data;

*Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;

*Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

*Attention to details and interests in educational research.
