The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Department of Public Health Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Research Assistant for a clinical research study. This position will work under the direction of the Assessment Core Manager. Specific duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, screening potential participants to verify study enrollment eligibility criteria and enrolling participants in accordance with study protocols under the supervision of the facilitators and assessment core manager; actively recruiting potential study participants; administering audio-assisted questionnaires for data collection at baseline and follow-up assessments; traveling with own personal transportation to off-campus sites, including schools, parks, participants' homes and/or other sites to perform assessment related activities; establishing and maintaining working relationships with assessment core manager and university personnel involved with clients in assessment and research data collection; maintaining accurate data on all record keeping forms; participating in all training activities; making telephone calls to contact families for assessments; transporting data collection equipment such as computers, laptops and other equipment; and conducting outside activities with families participating in the study intervention.
The minimum qualifications for this temporary position are as follows: high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of work experience in a research setting or in customer service. Must possess a current and valid driver's license. Ability and willingness to use own personal transportation for work purposes. Possess an interest and willingness to work with and have experience working with adolescents and participate in outside activities with them. Ability and willingness to be flexible with work schedule and work with an open schedule. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with bilingual skills in English and Spanish. Possess interviewing skills. Basic level computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel. Willing to undergo required trainings. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with study venues such as schools and the communities in which they are located. Any
relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority. As a result, during the Influenza (the flu) season (September through April), the University of Miami School of Medicine requires all employees who provide ongoing services to patients, work in a location (all Hospitals and clinics) where patient care is provided, or work in patient care or clinical care areas, to have an annual influenza vaccination.
