We are currently seeking a Textile Research Associate . This position is located in Dayton, OH . Primary Function Conducts chemical analysis of data collected. Performs structured work assignments. Extracts information from existing databases or literature and prepares information for chemical analysis. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible for planning and monitoring studies for new and improved textile fabrics for Military uniforms, functional and specialized protective clothing. Perform duties relative to concept generation and integration of technology base, manufacturing technology, production planning, integrated logistics support planning, and sustainment of all assigned projects. Supports quality improvements. Supports product development. Perform and assist in root cause analyses on fabric and textile material failures. Failures include, but not limited to, not meeting shade and testing requirements, incidents occurring in the field, or industry unable to produce intended product. Identify textile material requirements based on performance capabilities, appearance and maintenance characteristics. Conduct studies of textile materials, treatments and processes for Military clothing. Work with industry to develop shade standards. Perform assigned technical tasks and activities in a timely manner as requested. Prepare and revise specifications and purchase descriptions. Provide and document technical analysis of assigned projects. Work with print companies and manufacturers to ensure quality products are obtained. Conduct and\/or participate in assigned technical tasks and activities with minimum of supervision. Maintain both formal and informal communications and relationships with clients including responsibility for reports and presentations. Achieve high technical quality in assigned projects. Plan and carry out appropriate self-development activities. Reports to Manager and may be provided work direction by more senior staff and project management. Performance will be evaluated by the person to whom the Research Scientist reports, and will be based upon the responsibilities assigned. Major Responsibilities Performs assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process or materials specifications. Interprets results and writes small sections of technical reports. Troubleshoots the testing process when expected results are not obtained. Recommends paths forward to resolve analysis problems. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Textile Technology and\u00a00-2 years\u2019 experience in the technical field. Experience in textiles, and a high degree of judgment and resourcefulness in developing plans and executing projects. One year of familiarity with ASTM, ISO, AATCC and Specification documents. Experience with research and development\/evaluation and testing. Good presentational skills. Must also be able to analyze technical data. Excellent color acuity for shade matching. Must be familiar with dyeing, printing, finishing processes. Able to lift objects weighing at least 25 lbs.
